Finally…back to work.

I’ve been asking Sophia for like a month now if she wanted to get started on some fairy house stuff. She would keep saying that she wanted to, but just didn’t want to at that particular point in life. Too many other things going on, I suspect. Watching episodes of Doctor Who, and Facebook games..now those are the things important to an 8 year old. But alas, one day I asked if she wanted to finish up one of her JuJu pets. What that turned into was almost 3 hours of glorious crafting, in which she ended up nearly finishing the interiors of 2 amazing fairy houses.

The first one is a little girls room. Everything inside of this was built entirely by Sophie, and entirely based on things in her own imagination.

A rather unintentionally dramatic photo of the seashell bed she made. She used sparkly pompoms for pillows.

She built a shelf out of beads and even made the little dolls that sit on top.

She made a lamp out of shiny gems, put it on a table she made and decorated the table with smaller gems.

This next one is a store. She made a scale out of a basket and watch cogs, and when I couldn’t figure out what color to paint the floor, she recommended using clear glittery nail polish, so it would look like “Ceramic tile.”

This is obviously a table selling fish.

Here is a closeup of the scale she made. The thing hanging from the wall is a bag roll she made out of a toothpaste cap and some saran wrap.

The unfortunate thing about her devotion to these houses is that she is now saying she doesn’t want to sell them! It looks like I might have to do some reproduction work!

  1. I really love your miniatures ‚̧

    • Sorry it took so long to respond to this. Thank you very much though. We haven’t been working as much on them as we had been, but I’m hoping to get back into them during the summer.
